Meet Pewee: Your Blog, Your Way

Writing on the internet should be simple. Publishing it shouldn't require building an entire platform.

I've always liked having my own space on the internet to write and share things. Over time, I built a blogging system for my personal website, refined the dashboard, improved the reading experience, and published more than ten articles with it in 2026.

Eventually, I thought: why should this only be something I use?

That's how Pewee came to be.

A blog that feels like yours

Pewee is a minimal, open-source, self-hosted blogging platform built with Next.js and MongoDB.

It gives you everything you need to run your own blog without having to build a CMS, authentication system, or reading experience from scratch.

The idea is simple: spend less time building blogging infrastructure and more time writing.

Everything you need to publish

A clean reading experience

A quiet, typography-focused interface designed to make reading enjoyable. With a floating table of contents, reading time, and sharing links, readers can focus on the content.

A built-in CMS

Write and manage your articles through a simple dashboard. The rich-text editor comes with live preview and supports creating, editing, archiving, and deleting posts.

SEO, already figured out

Per-article metadata, Open Graph, Twitter cards, structured data, automatic sitemaps, robots.txt, and RSS feeds come built in.

Fast publishing

Pages are statically generated and automatically revalidated when you publish or update an article.

Make it yours in one command

Getting started doesn't require digging through configuration files.

Clone the repository, install dependencies, and run:

npm run setup

The interactive setup wizard asks for your blog name, tagline, author details, website URL, SEO preferences, social links, logo, MongoDB connection, and CMS configuration.

It then generates your branding configuration and gets the project ready for your own blog.

Your public branding lives in one file: pewee.config.json. Private credentials stay in .env.

Built to grow

Pewee currently focuses on doing one thing well: blogging.

Newsletter integration is something I'd love to explore in the future, alongside contributions from the community. The existing publishing workflow is designed to make that kind of extension possible.

But for now, the focus is on keeping the experience simple, fast, and enjoyable.

Try Pewee

Pewee is open source. You can explore the code, make it your own, and use it to publish your own corner of the internet.

Just write. Just publish.
